Fall Colours Hike on the Grand Valley Trail near Winterbourne


Enjoy the changing fall colours as you follow the natural foot path through woodlots and along farm fields along Cox Creek and the Grand River.


Hiking shoes or boots are recommended as some areas might be wet. Dress for the weather. Not suitable for strollers or dogs.

Fall Colour Hike at the Elmira Nature Reserve.


Join members of the Woolwich Trails Group on October 15, 2023 at 1:45 pm for a two hour exploration hike of the Elmira Nature Reserve.


Watch and learn while you enjoy the fall colours on at hike through prairie meadows, mixed forest and the water’s edge at the Elmira Nature Reserve.


Hiking shoes or boots are recommended as some areas might be wet. Dress for the weather. Not suitable for strollers or dogs.

YOGA HIKE AT SANDY HILLS REGIONAL FOREST (north of Elmira)


Our outing will begin with a Yoga stretching warm-up, followed by a peaceful hike through the Sandy Hills Regional Forest, situated on the Elmira Moraine with hike leader, Nancy Stayzer and yoga instructor, Jen Gough.


Discover a true wilderness tract within the boundaries of Woolwich Township, with regular stops for yoga and breathing exercises. All poses will be standing poses, meeting hikers where they are, requiring no extra equipment -- come dressed for the weather in layers, with sturdy footwear. Explore this mature conifer woodland with its sand and gravel trails before the onslaught of wintry weather.


From Elmira, take Arthur St. N. and turn right or east onto Sandy Hills Drive. Travel approximately 1 km to municipal address #390. 43.64760, -80.53511


Trail Rating: The trail is sometimes rough and rocky in places, and footing in some areas is uneven. This trail is not suitable for strollers. Washroom not available.

  • please arrive 10 minutes prior to the hike start time to sign in and be ready for the the hike to begin at the indicated start time.
  • Contact the hike leader the day before or morning of the hike to confirm meeting location and start time.
