In his best-selling book, 13 Ways to Kill Your Community, Doug weaves data, personal experience and anecdotes with humour to explain the common challenges communities face around North America and to understand their paths to success.

Two different keynote presentations will be delivered to the community.

1:30 p.m.

Keynote to EDSS Student Body

Doug will focus on youth in the community and the importance of participation in any community they live in through engaging storytelling.

6:00 p.m.

Community Services Showcase

Community groups and services will showcase opportunities for participants to join or find more information about local services. Booths and free swag will be located in the school's cafeteria.

7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Keynote to Community

Doug will address the community based on 13 Ways to Kill Your Community. The anecdotes are delivered with both wit and wisdom, and in a way that ensures audience members are inspired and confident in their role to make their community successful. Our goal is to find you a renewed sense of ownership and responsibility toward the community you live in.

Question Period

A Q&A session for interested audience members will take place in the cafeteria directly following the keynote. Snacks and time to browse the community booths.

Facilitated Workshop: Identifying community issues

Doug will facilitate a community forum to identify key community issues and potential areas for collective action. Please come with your ideas and a willingness to collaborate — together we achieve more!

Coffee, drinks and a light snack will be provided.

Workshop Over, Community work begins.

We will finish with a gameplan to tackle new projects in the community.
